Martijn has an academic background in educational sciences and psychology. Together with over 10 years of experience in training and teaching full contact Karate and Systema Kadochnikova, Martijn combines physical skills with a scientific approach in conflict regulation.

Martijn strongly believes one can not learn to be resilient in conflicts by merely gaining psychological knowledge or learning tricks. To be safe and thriving, it is critical to combine knowledge and skills with a sense of realism and knowing what you could, but more important, what you shouldn't do.

“Conflict and the act of regulating it is not a simple matter”. Many factors play a role that can alter the outcome for all parties during a conflict situation. Because of this, you cannot learn to be resilient by merely gaining psychological knowledge regarding conflict, or by learning tricks on how to deal with it. To be safe and thriving, it is critical to combine knowledge and skills with a sense of realism. Being realistic and knowing what you can, but more important, what you can't do, is paramount”.
